June 4th was a special night kicking off the Simply Changing Lives campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise $1.4 million to build a new dining hall so that Camp Deer Run can continue to effectively pass on faith to future generations.
Around 250 alumni and supporters attended the Simply Changing Lives kickoff event.
The last five Camp Directors were all present for this important event.
Former Program Director David Allen flew in from Thailand and did an awesome job as MC.
Steve Meeks came from Tennessee to share powerful stories of answered prayers from his years as Camp Director. If you haven’t heard those stories, then you should check out the e-book that Steve wrote about those years entitled “THROUGH PRAYER: 4 Years of Answered Prayers for Camp Deer Run”.
Later in the evening, board member Clay Spencer announced the Board’s intention to build a new dining hall. We were especially excited to announce at that time that God had already blessed us with a total of $776,000 pledged or given to the campaign. Throughout the summer, we continued to spread the word and receive pledges and donations, and our current total to date is $941,800!
The Simply Changing Lives campaign began with 40 Days of Prayer, where 40 different CDR alumni from different generations briefly described what camp has meant to them, a great memory they have from camp, and their prayer for camp. It was so inspiring to hear how camp has touched and changed so many lives in so many different ways. If you didn’t get to read them this summer, then you should check those out at simplycdr.com/blog.
June 4th was a very memorable night for all those in attendance. God has blessed the start of the Simply Changing Lives campaign and we thank Him for it!
